Divergence & W-E Divergence Circulation

JULY 2007

FIGURE T30.  Pressure-longitude section (80W-100E) of the mean (top) and anomalous (bottom) divergence (contour interval is 1 x 10-6 s-1) and divergent circulation averaged between 5N-5S. The divergent circulation is represented by vectors of combined pressure vertical velocity and the divergent component of the zonal wind. Red shading and solid contours denote divergence (top) and anomalous divergence (bottom). Blue shading and dashed contours denote convergence (top) and anomalous convergence (bottom). Anomalies are departures from the 1979-1995 base period monthly means.
