The Climate Prediction Center produces educational materials to help people better understand the role of the climate system in our lives and how to use climate forecasts.

  • Frequently Asked ENSO Questions & Answers - What is a La Niña or El Niño? What are their impacts? Common questions and their answers.

  • The ENSO Cycle: A Tutorial - A technical discussion for the layperson on climate variability and the El Niño-Southern Oscillation (ENSO) and how sea surface temperatures and atmospheric conditions in the Tropical Pacific affect North American weather patterns.

  • Fact Sheets and Monographs - Various written and graphical materials to help the public better understand the climate system and how climate patterns in far off places affect our weather patterns.

  • Links to Other ENSO Educational Materials - The National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration's Office of Public Affairs, Office of Global Programs, Pacific Environmental Marine Laboratory, and Climate Diagnostics Center provide additional background information and educational materials for the public.

  • North American Monsoon: Report to the Nation - A discussion for the layperson on the North American Monsoon and its effects on weather, climate and society. Adobe PDF Reader

  • The Professional Development Series (PDS) Training Modules - The PDS is organized by the Climate Services Division and training packages are taught by experts from CPC, CDC, NWS Headquarters, and Universities. The purpose is to facilitate NWS field staff's understanding and application of climate products and services. The following page supplies links to several of these training packages that are related to the CPC mission.
